MARI ROSA

Award-winning singer-songwriter, visual artist, & creative writer

ABOUT MARI ROSA

Mari Rosa is a singer-songwriter first and foremost. Trained in bel canto and jazz, she began her career as a Latin jazz artist, before turning her hand, her songs, and her band to the piano-driven pop you’ll hear in Bicycle Wheel and ANIMA.

In 2020, shut up tight in France’s lockdown, she began drawing and painting. Her visual art centers on highly detailed flowers and wild, minimalist redheads.

Also a poet with a novel in progress, she studied with acclaimed Argentine poet Maria Negroni.

In 2018, Mari began hand-drawing a 6,500 frame animation for her song, Conspiracy Theory — a humorous take on love as the greatest “conspiracy” of all. The animation went on to become an official selection at several film festivals.

Originally from Boston, trained in NYC and now living in Paris, Mari is a polyglot. The daughter of an Italian Argentine father and an American mother, she speaks English, Spanish, Italian, and French, and also writes lyrics in Brazilian Portuguese. Her work is unflinchingly feeling, often complex, and frequently irreverent.
